In the app you can also tap "Send us a note" in the parents' corner. It opens your email with the app version filled in, which helps us fix things faster.

Getting started

Who is Pip Says for?

Children from about 2 to 6 who are learning English, often as a second language at home. Your child doesn't need to read.

How does my child play?

Find it: Pip asks for a word and your child taps the right picture. Listen: tap any picture to hear the word in English. Every right answer puts a star in the jar, and full jars bring new toys for their room.

What is the purple button?

If you chose a language other than English, a purple button appears under Pip's question. Tap it and Pip asks the question in your language, then in English again. You can turn it off in the parents' corner.

How do I open the parents' corner?

On the home screen, press and hold "For parents" for three seconds, then answer a quick sum. Settings, play time, the PIN and purchases are all in there. The first time, a short tour shows you around.

Play time and the PIN

How do play time and the PIN work?

Choose a daily limit in the parents' corner. When time is up, the app can lock with a goodnight screen, or just show a friendly reminder. With a PIN set, only you can unlock it, add ten minutes or lift the limit for today. Time only counts while a game is open.

I forgot my PIN.

On the lock screen tap "Grown-ups", then "Forgot the PIN?", and answer the sum. You can then set a new PIN in the parents' corner.

Can more than one child use it?

Yes. Add each child in the parents' corner. Each one gets their own friend, name and stars, and picks themselves when the app opens. Children never see each other's progress. One purchase covers them all.

What do the numbers in the parents' corner mean?

Heard: how many times your child tapped a picture in Listen this week. Found: right answers in Find it this week. Days in a row: days with some play, one after another.

Sound and languages

Which languages does it support?

The words your child hears are English, with a British or American voice, a woman or a man. Buttons and grown-up pages come in English, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese.

There's no sound.

Check the volume buttons on the side of the device, and that "All sound" is on in the parents' corner. On iPhone, the ring/silent switch doesn't mute Pip, but a low volume will.

What does "slower voice" do?

Pip and the voices speak a little slower, so new words are easier to catch.

What does "calmer screen" do?

Less movement on screen: fewer jumps, flaps and flying. Good for children who get overexcited.

Buying and restoring

What does it cost?

Animals, Food and Numbers are free. One payment unlocks every other topic and all the words we add later. There is no subscription.

I bought it on another device. How do I get it back?

In the parents' corner, tap "Restore purchases" while signed in to the same Apple ID.

How do I ask for a refund?

Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID and choose the purchase.

Privacy and data

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Everything is inside the app, so it works on a plane or in the car.

How do I delete our data?

In the parents' corner, tap "Delete all my data on this phone". It clears everything on the device and the copy in your iCloud. See the privacy policy for more.
